Doesn't work as well as the old model

I had the GHD original for 10 years and when I curled my hair it would last for days! It sadly died and I bought this one to upgrade and it's so disappointing compared to the original. I can curl my hair with it but it falls out by the end of the day no matter how I curl or what products I use. Not sure if they don't get as hot as the old ones? But if you want it for just straightening then it's fine, but not long lasting curls, especially for the money.
